Modupe Onilu-Multi Instrumentalist,Organic

He is the reason why you can sink your teeth down to the very bone and marrow of a live performance, and enjoy the succulent flavour that oozes through your soul, as the waves of music course through the air. Modupe Folasade Onilu is a self-described multi-instrumentalist, who traverses the plains of percussion with a strong sense of self, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Percussion, in his own words, is the seasoning that adds that distinctive and irreplaceable flavour to all music.

Modupe Onilu
Port of Spain, Laventille, Trinidad & Tobago
One of the most gifted young percussionist from the twin Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Modupe Folasade Onilu has a dream of taking percussion to a different level in his island. Growing up in the “ghetto” of Laventille, spending most of his early musical experiences around steel bands like Laventille Serenaders and Desperadoes, he had a great passion for steel drums. He is currently doing an associates degree in music and performance at the COSTAATT university in Trinidad as a steel drum major. Son of master percussionist Jajah Oga Onilu, learning how to make and play instruments never seen to most of the percussion community, has opened doors for him in the music scene in Trinidad.
